COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 9,1998 PSA#2028

NEW CONTRACT FORMAT FOR SOMETACOM ACQUISITION DOCUMENTS Beginning February 9, 1998, TACOM-Warren and TACOM-ACALA will be testing a new, simplified six-part contract format in place of the 13-part Uniform Contract Format. The test is part of a three-year trial authorized by waiver from the Department of Defense. Testing begins with TACOM, and in the spring will expand to other Army Materiel Command installations. The purpose of the test is to see if streamlining the contract format will help those who work with our documents in the buying, administering, and contractor communities. The simplified test format does not delete clauses and provisions, but does rearrange where they appear within the document. For more information, please visit the TACOM Acquisition Center home page.
