Treasury, Financial Management Service (FMS) has a requirement for
printing plates, date slugs, signature dies and window gummers for the
Check Wrapping Systems (Model EW) (note: EW=Envelope Wrapper) designed
by the F.L. Smithe Machine Company, for use by the Treasury Regional
Financial Centers Located in: Austin, TX, San Francisco, CA, Chicago,
IL, Birmingham, AL, Kansas City, KS, Philadelphia, PA. The signature
dies will also be used on other check signing equipment, including Bell
& Howell and Cummins units, located in the Regional Financial Centers.
The overall size of pre-mounted photoplymer printing plate is
11-1/2"x15". the plates should be capable of producing a minimum of 2.5
million impressions, with clear and distinguishable printing or
characters. The signature die is rectangular in shape and is
11/32"x1-1/8". The signature dies shall be capable of producing a
minimum of 250,000 impressions with clear and distinguishable printing
or characters when used on the check signing equipment. Each window
gummer shall be capable of gumming a minimum of 4,500,000 envelopes.
The date slugs shall be capable of producing a minimum of 2.5 million
impressions with clear and distinguishable printing or characters.
Performance will be required from October 1, 1998 through September 30,
1999, with four one year options. The solicitation will be issued on or
about February 18, 1998. Interested vendors should submit a written
request for copies of the solicitation when it becomes available. No
