This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not issued. Quotations are hereby requested under RFQ N00189-98-Q-1132.FISC Acquisition Group Norfolk intends to purchase, on a sole source basis, 5 each, of COMSAT Planet 1 Inmarsat, Portable Satellite Telephone System, consisting of the following items: Secure Interface Unit (SIU), which includes (1) handset, (1) antenna, (1) rechargable lithium battery, (1) AC adapter/charger, (1) compass, (1) year warranty, and (1) user manual, with additional accessories of (2) smart cards, (1) cigarette lighter adapter (DC), a second year warranty, (1) spare lithium battery, (1) battery charger cradle, (1) data adapter cable, (1) nylon carrying case, (1) remotable standard gain antenna. This system is a rugged, compact portable telephone transceiver system, that allows for communications with any telephone, facsimile, or data network subscriber, or directly with other satellite telephone transceivers, including interface with STU-III secure telephone. The manufacturer of these items is Comsat Mobile Communications, 6560 Rock Spring Dr., Bethesda, MD., 20817. Award of a firm fixed price contract is contemplated. FOB Point is destination to Norfolk, VA. 23511. Delivery should be 30 days ARO. Items should be packaged for overseas shipment. Offers other than FOB Destination shall be ineligible for award.
