THERE IS NO SOLICITATION PACKAGE AVAILABLE. The Naval Air Warfare
Center Aircraft Division, Lakehurst is soliciting technical data and
cost for the future procurement of an Uninterruptible Power Supply
(UPS). The UPS is intended for use with the Common Automated Recovery
System (CARS) which is used to recover Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAV). The
equipment is installed on the flight deck of a LPD class ship and as
such will be exposed to harsh environmental conditions. The UPS design
should be either ruggedized commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) or
militarized. The UPS should have the following capabilities: a). Input
power: 115 volt, single phase, 60 hertz, 1000 volt-amps (VA)
continuous with motor load surge capability in accordance with
MIL-STD-2036A and MIL-STD-1399 (NAVY), Section 300A. Transient clamping
capability required for voltage spikes. b). Output power: 115 volt,
single phase, 60 hertz, sine wave. c). Backup power run time of 25
minutes with input power disabled. d). Compatibility with a load which
incorporates an electronic power factor correction module. e).
Built-in features for local and remote monitoring of operational and
fault status. f). Ambient operating temperature range: -40 C to +60 C
(desired). g). Storage temperature range: -40 C to +60 C. h). Meet the
following provisions of MIL-STD-810E: (1) Method 506.3, Procedure I
for Rain, (2) Method 507.3, Procedure I for Humidity, (3) Method 508.4,
Procedure I for Fungus, (4) Method 509.3, Procedure I for Salt Fog, (5)
Method 510.3, Procedure I for Sand and Dust, (6) Method 514.4,
Procedure I for Vibration (alternatively, meeting the provisions of
MIL-STD-167, Type I. (7) Method 516.4, Procedure I for Mechanical
Shock. i). Meet the following provisions of MIL-STD-461D for
Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)/Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) with the
upper frequency range limited to 30 Mhz: (1) CE101, CE102, CS101,
CS114, CS115, CS116, RE101, RE102, RS101, RS103. Suppliers with systems
that meet the above specifications are encouraged to forward
information about their systems, in response to this RFI. It is
requested that information be submitted NO LATER THAN 10 MARCH 1998 to
Ms. Jennifer Vaccaro, Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (Code
213000B129-2), Highway 547 Lakehurst, NJ 08733-5082, who may be reached
at (732)323-5129. Respondents are notified that a formal solicitation
MAY NOT necessarily result from this RFI. This request is not a formal
solicitation for proposal and does not commit the government to an
award of contract. The government will not pay for any information
received in response to this request, nor will the government
compensate any source for the cost incurred in developing the
information. All submittals shall contain all available technical and
test data, all pertinent brochures and user information. The Government
will not release any information marked with a Proprietary legend,
received in response to this RFI, to any firms, agencies, or
individuals outside the Government without written permission in
accordance with the legend. Any submittal should not exceed ten (10)
