COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 10,1998 PSA#2029Defense Special Weapons Agency, 6801 Telegraph Road, Alexandria, VA
22310-3398 A -- APPLICATION OF NUCLEAR ELECTRON ENERGY TRANSFER, NEET, AND ITS
INVERSE I.E., TRANSITION OF ENERGY BY ELECTRONS TO NUCLEUS, TEEN, FOR
PUMPING NUCLEAR LEVELS POC Susan Benik, Negotiator, (703) 325-325-6962,
Edward Archer, Contracting Officer, (703) 325-5028 This effort is a
sole source contract to the Institute of Physics, St. Petersburg
University. This effort consist of the experimental and theoretical
investigations of the NEET and TEEN processes associated with the
Th-229 isomer. The major thrust of the proposed experimental
investigation is directed toward acquisition of the phenomenological
data pertaining to the NEET and TEEN phenomena of the considered
isomer, while the theoretical aspect of this study is focused upon
evaluation of the cross section for the Th-229 isomer, probability of
3.5 eV isomer production and decay rates of the excited specified set
of ions. DSWA believes that the Institute of Physics, St. Petersburg
University is the only source possessing this technical expertise. Any
other firm desiring consideration must fully identify its capability
to perform this requirement. See Note 22 (substitute 15-day proposal
receipt period in lieu of 45-day period). Faxed requests are acceptable
and shall be faxed to the attention of Susan Benik at (703) 325-9291.
If the request is faxed, no hard copy is required. Information on DSWA
solicitations, already released, can be obtained by calling the DSWA
Hotline at (703) 325-1173. Acquisition Management has added
"Procurement Opportunities" to the DSWA Home Page available on the
World Wide Web. Information will include this synopsis and more. Please
