INDUSTRY INVITATION FOR COTS CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT (CM) PROGRAMS 1. This is not an announcement of an upcoming solicitation. It is a notice to industry of the NAVAL SUPPLY SYSTEM COMAND (NAVSUP) intent to invite industry sources to participate in a demonstration and certification of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) configuration management (CM) programs. 2. The Joint Engineering Data Management Information and Control System (JEDMICS) Program Office, PML-590, is fielding a digital system for storing, maintaining and retrieving engineering drawings. 3. JEDMICS is a stand alone drawing repository system with the capability and vision to be a virtual repository for other types of technical data to provide the best Continuous Acquisition and Life Cycle Support (CALS) compliant standard system for electronic access to technical data packages. 4. Business and private sector users have specific keys to identification of engineering drawings such as part number, or National Stock Number, or Work Unit Code. Currently, JEDMICS engineering drawing retrieval depends upon a specific drawing number as the common denominator for access. 5. To enhance the productivity of business processes and technical data managers to have on-line access to the JEDMICS database, the JEDMICS Program Management Office desires to examine COTS CM programs which are currently being used within the Department of Defense (DoD) that could provide numerous "keys" or pathways into the JEDMICS storage and retrieval system. 6. The JEDMICS Program Management Office is providing a forum for a demonstration in which interested participants can submit their COTS CM programs loaded with Government (JEDMICS) provided engineering data for evaluation and certification as user interfaces with JEDMICS. 7. Interested parties may submit a request for the demonstration plan and data to the point of contact identified in the announcement. 8.
