A -- NOTICE OF PLANNED PROCUREMENT SCHEDULE FOR CHAMP FOLLOW-ON The purpose of this notice is to release the current planned schedule for competition and award of a follow-on contract to NAS5-50000, the Consolidated Hubble Assorted Mission Products (CHAMP) contract. The CHAMP contract supports NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in the science operations and on-orbit servicing of the Hubble Space Telescope (HST). The current contract value is approximately $319 million. The current planned schedule is for a draft Request for Proposal (RFP) release on September 15, 1998, followed by RFP release on December 3, 1998. Award to other than the incumbent would occur with a phase-in period starting August 1, 1999, with such a contractor assuming full responsibilities in June of 2000 after completion of Servicing Mission Observatory Verification (SMOV) activities after the Third HST Servicing Mission (SM3). The follow-on will provide continuing support for both operations, the Fourth HST Servicing Mission (SM4) slated for 2002, and additional requirements.
