slwillia@usgs.gov. The US Geological Survey, Earth Resources
Observation Systems (EROS) Data Center, located approximately twelve
miles north of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and four miles east of US
Highway 77, has a requirement for operation and maintenance of on-site
facilities and grounds. The grounds are approximately 318 acres and
the facilities consist of a main building, a maintenance garage
substation (MGS), a facility support building, a heavy equipment
storage building, a water pumping station, a waste water treatment
facility, dam gate controls, a water tower, and exterior lighting. The
main building is reinforced concrete and steel building with a ground
floor of approximately 210,000 square feet. There is a penthouse area
that contains the air conditioning equipment, chemical distribution
tanks, etc. The area beneath the ground floor is designated as "crawl
space" where the chemical, electrical, and mechanical support systems
are located. The MGS Building is constructed of reinforced concrete
steel, with a ground floor area of approximately 5,000 square feet. The
structure houses a four-stall garage and power distribution substation.
The facility support building is constructed of reinforced concrete and
steel, with a ground floor area of approximately 15,000 square feet.
The structure houses a machine shop, a carpenter shop, a maintenance
shop and 10,000 square feet of warehouse storage. The heavy equipment
building is a metal building of approximately 7,500 square feet. The
building houses heavy equipment for snow removal, excess equipment
awaiting disposition, and photo paper. Three of its walls are standard
metal building construction, the south wall is a trickle down hydronic
solar collector. Heated water from the wall flows to an insulated
cistern. The hot water is pumped through tubes in the radiant floor.
Thus, the building is heated by the sun. The contractor shall provide
all management, supervision, labor, supplies, materials, equipment and
tools required by the contract to effectively, efficiently, and
satisfactorily operate and perform mechanical operations and related
services of the EROS Data Center located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

the date of publication of this notice. All responsible sources may
submit a proposal which shall be considered by the USGS. The due date
is on or about 60 days after the date of publication of this notice.
All requests shall be in writing, no telephone requests will be
honored. A pre-proposal conference will be scheduled and a date will be
set at the time of release of the RFP. See numbered Notes 12 and 26.
