COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 12,1998 PSA#2031SYMPOSIUM: C2 AS A WEAPONS SYSTEM: TOWARDS A SPACE AND AIR FORCE The
Paul Revere Chapter of the Air Force Association, with the assistance
of the Electronic Systems Center (ESC) of the Air Force Materiel
Command (AFMC), will host a technical symposium on the evolution of
USAF C2 systems. The symposium will be held at the newly renovated
Hanscom AFB Officers' Club on March 25th and 26th 1998. Technical
discussions and presentations will complement EFX Industry Day
scheduled for 27 Mar 98. Cost is $350 for Industry and $200 for

purpose of the symposium is the detailed exchange of technical
information on C2 and related programs at ESC, the identification of
issues and answers, and the opportunity for industry technical managers
to dialoguewith their Government counterparts. Lessons are being
learned, leading to technology transfer opportunities to and from
industry. A roundtable discussing these industry and Government lessons
learned will be part of the proceedings. Keynotes from senior
warfighting command and acquisition command leadership are expected.
AFC2A (Air Force Air and Space Command and Control Agency) is invited
to present. As mentioned previously the, symposium will also provide
information on the Expeditionary Force Experiment (EFX)
(http://www.hanscom.af.mil/Orgs/Spo/FX/homefram.htm) Industry Day
scheduled for 27 Mar 98. A tour of the ESC C2 Unified BattleSpace
Environment (CUBE) (http://extranet.hanscom.af.mil/cubeweb/) is on the
agenda. The symposium will feature presentations by military and
civilian speakers from various services, agencies and FFRDCs. Specific
topics to be discussed include Air and Space Architecture for the
Warfighter, Joint Vision 2010, C2 as a Weapon System, Spiral
Development in the Context of Evolving C2 Systems, the USAF Technology
Program at MIT/LL, the CUBE -- status and EFX 98 and 99 activity.
Government-industry breakout sessions will focus on specific aspects of
the C2 architecture. These will explore status, technology trades,
issues, lessons learned, and technical opportunities. DISA is expected
to present a detailed update on the DII COE. AFA Government and
Industry members will be selected to facilitate working sessions.
