Notice of Intent to Issue The New York City Metropolitan Area Acquisition Request for Proposals. The General Services Administration, Federal Technology Service (FTS) is requesting proposals for New York City metropolitan area telecommunications services. The Request for Proposals will be released on or about February 26, 1998. Comments and questions are due two weeks from the release date. The resulting contract scope includes all existing local telecommunications services. The scope also includes but is not limited to technological enhancements, service improvements, all new and/or emerging telecommunication service offerings that arise during the term of the contract. Following a forbearance period the scope will include, at the Government's option, all end-to-end telecommunications services necessary for the Government to satisfy its world wide telecommunications requirements for the life of the contract. The RFP will specify the traffic information and any specific technical or management requirements for the metropolitan area. The Government encourages partnering between small and large businesses. Draft technical and geographic boundary requirements are listed on the MAA Internet mail address listed below. To be placed on a bidders mailing list and receive a copy of the Request for Proposals, please transmit a request to the attention of the MAA Contracting Officer, Phillip L. The Request for Proposals will be available in Microsoft Word 6.0 format on GSA's Internet mail address at http://www.gsa.gov/maa. GSA will also make available electronic copies of the Request for Proposals in Microsoft Word 6.0 format on 3.5 -- inch diskettes to all parties on the bidders mailing list that request a copy. GSA will not make hardcopies of the Request for Proposals available. Proposals must be received by April 27, 1998. All bidders list requests should include company name, point of contact name and title, address, telephone number, fax number and Internet E-mail address. Companies should also provide their DUNS number and business size, according to the size standard for Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code 4813 -- Telecommunications Services, which is 1500 employees.
