J -- MAINTENANCE OF TRANE EQUIPMENT SOL 69D-197-98 DUE 022098 POC Michael Cunningham, Contracting Officer, (414) 902-5407 The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Great Lakes Acquisition Center, is planning to negotiate a sole source contract with Trane Chicago Service for maintenance of Trane equipment at the Lakeside and West Side Divisions of the VA Chicago (IL) Health Care System for the period 3/1/98 through 2/28/99 plus 2 one-year options to renew. The equipment includes 4 Centravacs, 2 Refrigerant Monitors, 5 Building Automation Systems, 2 Reciprocating Compressors, 2 Condensers, 1 Cold Water Generator and 1 other Chiller. The work also includes overhaul of two Centravacs. One overhaul is to be done in Option Year 1 and the other in Option Year 2. The reasons why Trane is considered a sole source include: specialized expertise; access to parts; the fact that no other quotes have been received for several similar contracts over a period of several years despite public advertisement; and the inability to identify additional sources through market research. Other sources who believe they are capable of providing theseservices must supply information about their capabilities to this office by 2/20/98 in order to receive consideration.
