GREENHOUSE GAS TECHNOLOGY STAKEHOLDERS MEETING EPA has awarded a cooperative agreement (CR826311) to Southern Research Institute (SRI) for an Environmental Technology Verification Pilot Program in the greenhouse gas mitigation technology area. This program is being designed to verify the performance of commercial ready and near commercial greenhouse gas mitigation technologies throught the collection and evaluation of objective and quality assured laboratory and field data. The program will provide potential purchasers and others with an independent and credible assessment of what they are buying, and will increase the use of viable environmental technologies which are currently not being used due to a lack off credible third party performance data. SRI is designing a verification strategy that includes the development of test protocols with quality assurance provisions, the performance of verification testing in the lab and in the field, and the issuance of verification reports and statements. SRI has established an Executive Stakeholder Group to help prioritize greenhouse gas technology areas for verification testing, develop operational guidelines, and specify verification testing strategies. The Executive Stakeholder Group includes national and international experts in the areas of climate change science, policy, technology, and regulation, and also includes representatives from industry trade organizations, technology vendors and buyers, environmental technology finance groups, government oganizations, and others. The first meeting of the Executive Stakeholder Group is scheduled for March 24, 1998, at the Watergate Hotel, 2650 Virginia Avenue, Northwest, Washington, DC.
