Haun, Contracting Officer (301) 496-8613 The National Cancer Institute
(NCI) Division of Clinical Sciences plans to procure on a sole source
basis under authority of FAR 6.302-1, a Gridding Robot/Arrayer from
Gene Machines, 2992 Spring St. Unit A, Redwood City, CA 94063. The
Gridding Robot/Arrayer is a state-of-the-art technology which allows
researchers to screen hundreds to thousands of DNA, c-DNA, or RNA
sequences at one time for the presence of particular genes, and
quantitate and analyze this information. The technology will be linked
to the NCI and Cancer Genome Anatomy Project (CGAP) initiative,
enabling scientists to map the sequences differentially expressed by
cancer cells and begin the process of determining the basis for the
transformation of normal cells to malignant cells at the molecular
level. This instrument will help the Division of Clinical Sciences
identify and map all genes associated with human cancers. This specific
design/innovation was built by Gene Machines and has been modified to
improve the quality of the arrays produced and are exclusive
developments of Gene Machine. This is the only vendor that NCI is aware
of that is capable of constructing this instrument. This notice of
intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all
responsible parties that believe that they can meet the above
requirements may submit capability statements. Information furnished
shall include enough material, in sufficient detail, to allow NCI to
perform a proper evaluation of their ability to perform. Materials must
be received within 15 days of the publication of this notice (0043) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0327 19980217\66-0013.SOL)
