Dennis, (509) 375-2348 or Fax (509) 375-4346 The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, operated by Battelle Memorial Institute, Pacific Northwest Division (Battelle) for the U.S. DOE, is seeking to establish a source list for future Requests for Proposals (RFP) for cost-shared research and development of technologies which will enhance the economic competitiveness and use of glazing. The research is to address one or more of the following areas: A) lightweight glazing alternatives (thin glass, polymers, combination of the two), B) development of numerical modeling and simulation capabilities to assess the structural behavior of new, thinner glazing designs. Initital funding levels for a variety of projects are projected at approximately $1M the first year and $2M in each fiscal year thereafter (FY98 through FY2000). Unless otherwise specified, a 50/50 cost share shall be required. Partnerships between industry, university, and/or national laboratory participants are encouraged. The actual RFP's will contain full details related to the research priorities, minimum cost share amounts, evaluation criteria, and partnership participation.
