The Chicago Operations Office of the Department of Energy (DOE) intends to issue a Request For Proposals (RFP) for mixed oxide (MOX) fuel fabrication and reactor irradiation services. As stated in the DOE's Office of Fissile Materials Program Acquisition Strategy (PAS) for obtaining MOX fuel fabrication and reactor irradiation services, an integral part of the MOX fuel approach is the acquisition from the private sector of MOX fuel fabrication and reactor irradiation services. The RFP describes the DOE's approach for acquiring these services and to request proposals from prospective offerors. The RFP will be released on or about February 27, 1998. Comments resulting from the December 12, 1997 draft solicitation review conference, held at the DOE Chicago Operations Office, were considered by DOE in preparing the final RFP.
