This solicitation is for the acquisition of six (6) laser range finders. This equipment must be able to range hard targets from 50 meters to 8,000 meters. Hardware requirements shall be met with hand held equipment capable measuring the distant to cloud base when pointed in the vertical position, provided that the clouds are dense enough to enable a reading. The laser range finder must come complete with a carrying case to facilitate ease of transportablility. The units must come with a standard commercial warranty. The unit should also provide a digital readout of range in either meters for feet. It shall come complete with a battery and an extra set of batteries. The unit shall be capable of performing at least 600 separate measurements on a single set of batteries or a single battery charge operation. Demonstration may be required. The closing date for this solicitation will be 18 March 1998 at 1600 hours Eastern Standard Time.
