COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 19,1998 PSA#2035Defense Special Weapons Agency, 6801 Telegraph Road, Alexandria, VA
22310-3398 A -- VISUALIZATION OF COMPLEX BLAST WAVES POC Thomas L. Cox,
Negotiator, (703) 325-1196, Scott G. Morton, Contracting Officer, (703)
325-1200 This synopsis is FOR INFORMATION ONLY. Proposed contract
effort is to develop high fidelity, precision laboratory scale
detonation and air blast data. This data is essential to validate
advanced air blast codes which the Defense Special Weapons Agency
(DSWA) had developed for Nuclear Weapons Effects (NWE). This effort,
consisting of code versus code benchmarking and pre-test predictions
has illuminated a number of technical issues that must be resolved to
insure high-fidelity predictive techniques are available for ongoing
efforts. Ernst Mach Institute (EMI) of Freiburg, Germany, has submitted
an unsolicited proposal for Dynamics of Explosion Multi-Chamber
Systems. EMI has developed an innovative approach in the above proposal
to obtain unique data for validation of these codes and the precision
experimentation, experimental apparatus and measurement techniques are
only available thru EMI. No solicitation will be issued. For
information, contact Thomas L. Cox, (703) 325-1196. Information on DSWA
solicitations, already released, can be obtained by calling the DSWA
Hotline at (703) 325-1173. Acquisition Management has added
"Procurement Opportunities" to the DSWA Home Page available on the
World Wide Web. Information will include this synopsis and more. Please
