The United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, National Animal Disease Center has a requirement to purchase Animal Isolators. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation is being issued as Request for Quotation (RFQ) #9-98. This solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 90-46. This solicitation is under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) and is a Small Business -- Small Purchase Set-Aside. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code is 3599 and the Business Size Standard is 500 employees. This will be a Firm-Fixed price contract. CLIN 001 Animal Isolators, 8 each. The item you are offering mustmeet or exceed the following salient characteristics: Must be of stainless steel/polychromate construction on wheels; Must have both positive and negative pressure ventilation with 99.7% HEPA filtration levels; Minimal floor area -- 5 sq. ft.; construction is to include sampling/collection port; Must be solid/rigid construction to allow complete visibility of animal; Must have animal access via glove ports with mechanism to prevent animals entering ports. ANIMAL COMPARTMENT -- For up to 20 lbs. of pigs, 1 or 2 animals DIMENSIONS -- 5 sq. Feet floor space, 2 1/2' x 2', 29 inches tall (min.) TWO GLOVE PORTS ON ENTRY DOOR -- 15 mil butyl with 31" cuff ambidexter, autoclavable -- ports to include rubber/expandable plugs to close the ports upon exit, to prevent animals entering ENTRY DOOR -- fully removable side of animal compartment, with gasket seal when closed SECTIONAL FLOOR removable from inside to facilitate scraping feces to removable collection canister in under floor. Animal Floor withsmall openings to allow feces and urine to pass through STAND ALONE UNIT -- stainless steel frame on 4" wheels All hardware and feces collection canister to be stainless steel Animal inclosure to be polycarbonate 1/4" clear for viewing of animal from all sides. Adjustable feeder of poly carbonate material for feeding liquid feed via plugged port. Entire unit to withstand steam cleaning Both positive and negative pressure ventilation with 99.7% HEPA. Variable speed fans with capacity of 20 air changes/hour -- approx. 256 cu. ft./minute Floor with removable canister making it possible to collect samples without breaking seal.
