84 -- BODY ARMOR, INTERCEPTOR, COMMENTS FROM INDUSTRY SOL 032&&&-9802-0002 POC Dee Townes (508) 233-5358 "dtownes@natick-emh2.army.mil" (Site Code DAAN02) The U.S. Army Soldier Systems Command (SSCOM) plans to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) in April 1998 for a best value contract to produce a multiple threat tactical body armor, model name INTERCEPTOR, to satisfy the US Marine Corps' full operational capability and the US Army's initial operational capability. Draft documents are posted on the world wide web to familiarize industry with the INTERCEPTOR acquisition strategy and performance requirements. SSCOM seeks industry's comments on estimated cost, schedule, and/or performance risks for this acquisition and recommended clarification of performance requirements toward ensuring a successful contract effort. In addition, SSCOM is looking for industry's recommendation of a minimum delivery order to achieve economic production levels. SSCOM welcomes exchanges at SSCOM HQ, Natick, MA if preferred over written comment. Industry input is required no later than 20 MAR 98.
