The National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP) will be issuing a solicitation (#98-001) for the purpose of soliciting proposals from interested qualified laboratories, located in the United States to perform HLA-A and HLA-B typing of volunteer donors for the NMDP and its affiliated donor centers. The objective of this initiative is to optimize the quality and accuracy of HLA-A and HLA-B typing performed at the time of donor recruitment for all volunteers regardless of race, thereby improving all patients' chances of finding a matched donor. It is anticipated this solicitation will be released on March 10, 1998.
