A -- MEDICAL WASTE PROCESSING EQUIPMENT TECHNOLOGIES SOL N00167-98-SS-0034 POC Kiet Ung (301) 227-5235 Sources sought for medical waste processing equipment technologies to process, treat and handle potentially infectious medical waste generated aboard Navy ships. This is not a Request for Proposals and no contract will be awarded solely on the basis of the response hereto, or on follow-up information subsequently sought. No reimbursement for any costs associated with providing this informatin will be made. The Carderock Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center (CDNSWC) is seeking informatin on companies which have a demonstrated capability of manufacturing equipment for processing, treating and handling potentially infectious medical waste. The equipment is required to sterilize and package the waste for safe, sanitary, long-term storage aboard ship. Significant volume reduction is desired. Technologies or equipment must be suitable for the shipboard environment, easy to operate and maintain, and environmentally acceptable. Information on incineration is not requested at this time. Potential sources are requested to document their experience in this field and submit literature including: 1) processing technique, 2) specifications, 3) maintenance requirements, 4) size and weight, 5) required ship's services, 6) availability, 7) current government and industry installations and points of contact and 8) cost. Responses to this sources sought synopsis are requested within 30 days from the date of publication. This synopsis is for information purposes and to identify capable potential offerors. It does not constitute an RFP and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government.
