This is a request for information to the commercial transportation
industry in support of the Air Force Weather Technical Library (AFWTL)
relocation from 859 Buchanan Street, Scott AFB IL (SAFB) to 151 Patton
Ave, Asheville NC (Asheville). AFWTL is conducting extensive market
research pertaining to the commercial business processes used to
facilitate the relocation of a technical library, to include, but not
limited to the following: (1) dismantle, move, refurbish as necessary,
and reassemble the AFWTL shelving system(s) in a different
configuration and (2) pack, move, and reshelve the documents in the
correct library order. The AFWTL catalogs, stores, and circulates
information for the Air Force Weather Agency (AFWA) and also provides
reference service to worldwide Department of Defense (DoD) customers.
The AFWTL locates sources of data and scientific literature and
maintains nearly 500,000 holdings used regularly in responding to an
average 17,000 annual requests for services. The AFWTL also edits, adds
graphics, and publishes technical reports, studies, and projects for
AFWA in all media. AFWTL's vision involves a smooth transition of this
relocation through a thorough understanding of the best transportation
business processes used in the industry. On the behalf of AFWTL, the
Air Mobility Command (AMC) Contracting Flight (CONF) will make
available a DRAFT copy of the Statement of Work to industry for
comments. Inquiries may be submitted to the AMC CONF, Attn: Michelle
