Date: Mar 10, 98 Bid Opening Date: Approximately Apr 9, 98. U.S. Army,
Headquarters, Industrial Operations Command (HQ,s IOC) intend to
contract for the services required to remediate the Boeing Michigan
Aeronautical Research Center (BOMARC) missile accident side, at McGuire
Air Force Base, New Jersey. The project is the remediation of weapons
grade plutonium. This effort includes excavation of the contaminated
soils, the dismantling, packaging and remival of all contaminated
material from the site. Disposal of the contaminated material will not
be part of this contract. Radiological surveys and sampling will be
performed to release the site in accordance with the guidelines of
NUREG-1575, "Multi-Agency Radiation Survey and Site Investigation
Manual". A firm fixedprice contract is comtemplated. A preproposal site
visit is sscheduled for Mar 11, 98. Approximate closing date is Apr 9,
98. Contract award will be made only to a contractor approved on HQ's
IOC's Qualified Bidders List, under the Low Level Radioactive Waste
Disposal Program. The contract will be awarded in the categories of
decontamination and decommissioning, transportation and brokering. If
