Diego, CA 92152-5113 60 -- OPTICAL/MECHANICAL SHORE CABLE SOL N66001-98-Q-0022 POC Contract
Specialist, Mr. Jon Wester, Code D213, (619)553-4493. Contracting
Officer, Mr. Laurence Hunt, (619)553-4541 This is an amendment to RFQ
No. N66001-98-Q-0022 which was issued as a combined
synopsis/solicitation via publication in the CBD on 12 February 1998.
The purpose of this amendment is to answer two technical questions, to
clarify an aspect of the specification, and to revise the date by
which quotes are due. Question #1: Do we correctly understand the
solicitation to request a lightweight cable? Answer to Question #1: The
terminology "light cable" is not relevant to this purchase. Question
#2: Would nondispersion-shifted fiber with optical attenuation of
slightly less than 0.21 dB/km at 1550 nm be acceptable? Answer to
Question #2: A variance on the specification of dispersion-shifted
fiber would not be acceptable for this purchase. The following is added
to the specification: "Cable construction shall be suitable for
subsequent application of medium shore armor for surf zone protection.
However, application of this shore armor is not part of this
solicitation or specification." The date by which quotesare due is
revised to 12 March 1998. (0054) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0300 19980226\60-0001.SOL)
