combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial services prepared in
accordance with the format in FAR subpart 12.6, as supplemented with
additional information included in this notice. This notice constitutes
the only solicitation;proposals are being requested and a written
solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation incorporates
provisions and clauses identified in FAR subpart 12, FAC 97-2,Oct 10
97,as required. Standard industrial classification is 1752. This
project will be procured using commercial item procedures.To providing
all labor, tools, material, equipment and transportation to remove and
replace approximately 1800 square yards of carpet in all dormitory
rooms, dayrooms and offices in dormitory 408 and the removal and
replacement of approximately 3800 linear feet of 4 inch vinyl cove
base. The carpet to be purchased and installed shall be: Style: Ayers
Hall, #50759; Color: Persian Turquoise #59405. Mfg. Philadelphia Carpet
by Shaw Industries or equal. Enhanced multicolored level loop graphics,
28 oz or more per square yard face weight, 1/10 gauge, 10 stitches per
inch, 100% nylon yarn to be solution dyed scoured nylon, woven
polypropylene is the basic backing, woven polypropylene secondary
backing, with 10year warranty, no static, no shock, and a 5 year no
stain, no fade, no exclusions warranty. The contractor shall remove and
replace all furnishings in the rooms required for installation of the
carpet and cove base. The work shall be scheduled so that all work is
completed and the furnishings replaced in each room at the end of each
day's work. The contractor shall clean the carpet and base prior to
replacing furnishings. The carpet and cove base shall be installed in
accordance with manufacturers instructions. The contractor shall be
responsible for preparation of the floor surfaces as necessary to
receive the carpet. All surfaces shall be free of voids or protrusions.
Installed carpet and base shall be smooth, uniform and secure.
Patterned goods shall be accurately matched. Cutouts such as doors,
jambs, columns and ducts shall fit neat and secure. The contractor
shall trim and butt edges together to form uniform seams. The
contractor shall apply a bead of seam adhesive to the edges of the
seams to prevent fraying and unraveling. The contractor shall furnish
all cement, tape and end cap down moldings necessary to install the
carpet and base. The carpet shall have a class 1 fire rating, with 300
parts aluminum tri-hydrate added to the latex compound to ensure that
in case of burn, the carpet will not burn or melt to color and self
extinguish in 1/4 inch. Static propensity shall be 1.5 KV or less.
Carpet shall have no V.O.C. or asbestos in the latex backing or
adhesive. These are high impact' areas, therefore the affirmative
procurement does not pertain to this solicitation, but should be
environmentally preferable products.The contractor shall remove old
cove base and install all new vinyl cove base. The cove base shall be
4 inches high and shall be Roppe #877 Steel blue or equal. The
contractor shall remove and dispose of all debris daily off base at
DEHC approved sites. The contract duration shall be 30 days. Delivery
