J -- RETUBE AND SERVICE TWO (2) EACH 500 TON TRANE CVE CENTRIFUGAL CHILLERS SOL F08651-98-Q-0905 DUE 031198 POC Contact Lisa Sholar, Contract Specialist, (850) 882-4961 x 5233, Shawn C Roberts, Contracting Officer, (850) 882-3519 x 5231 The Air Forces Development Test Center (AFDTC), Eglin AFB FL, intends to award a contract for materials, shipping, transportation, tubes, special equipment operator for tube removal, tube replacement, special tools and equipment and 25% of total labor required to perform the work listed on two (2) each 500 ton Trane CVE Centrifugal Chillers. Upon completion of work contractor will leak check the refrigerant and water sides of the evaporator tubes to ARI standards. As a minimum; contractor will cut access holes in shell at each support location, clean and debur support and tube sheets inspect eliminators. Verify all retaining welds on support sheets inspect eliminators. Verify all retaining welds on support sheet to shell locations, repair defective or broken welds as necessary, install new original equipment manufactured (O. E. M.) evaporator tubes, expand tubes on head and support sheets to factory specifications, replace access cover plates utilize backing strips on hole perimeters to prevent weldingslag from damaging new tubes, face tubes flush to head sheet on each end, pressurize chiller with dry nitrogen and leak check, repair leaks as necessary (resulting from work accomplished). Retubing equipment shall, at a minimum consist of; (1) Automated continuous extraction type tube puller-hand ram type equipment will not be accepted. (2) Digital torque limiting rolling devices to prevent over crush of tube wall. Contractor shall be a factory authorized warranty service agent of chiller manufacturer (Trane Company) and be required to provide proof of completing a minimum of three (3) similar retubing projects on 400 ton and larger Trane Chillers in the past twelve (12) months. Contractor shall remove all existing tubes, debris, etc. from job site. Contractor will train government personnel in use of special tools, equipment and special procedures used to accomplish this work. Government will furnish 75% of total labor required to prepare removal of evaporator end bells existing evaporator tubes and tube replacement on the two (2) 500 ton Trane Centrifugal Chillers located at facility 14. The solicitation number for this announcement is F08651-98-Q-0905 and is issued as a Request for Quote (RFQ). This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice.
