The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Superior Engineered Products, Inc., 2227 Hollins Ferry Road, Baltimore, Maryland 21230-1690 unless responses to this synopsis reveal that other sources are capable of satisfying this requirement. Superior Engineered Products Inc., is the local distributor for "Total Doors" by Openings of Pontiac, MI. The SSA requires the removal and replacement of "Total Doors" by Opening, which include 9 pairs of nominal opening size, approximate 72"X 94" doors with 24" X 70" X " vision panel with safety glass and semi-concealed continuous hinge. 3 of the pairs have mortised aluminum top/bottom caps to keep moisture out of door. Replace 3 single 18 gauge steel doors 36" X 84" with 24" X 30" X " vision panel. Replace 3 single 20 gauge steel doors with nominal opening size, approximate: 36" X 84". Replace 2 panic exit device and 2 closers for the main entrance door. Removal and replacement of 3 pairs of wood core bi-fold closet doors, size 84"W X 96"H X 1 " D with heavy duty pivot hinging will be utilized on top and bottom with slide track ball receiver mechanism. Provide 4 lower portion door frame repairs. The specifications of these products require, full height continuous hinge mechanism to extend door life expectancies; full height continuous latch mechanisms to eliminate surface applied vertical hardware, coordinators, astragels, and awkward styles of rubber seals; and a narrow projection (1 1/8") panic exit device that meets and exceeds all codes (A.D.A., Life Safety, B.O.C.A., B.O.M.A., N.F.P.A. 80, N.F.P.A. 101, etc.). Lifetime warranty on the panic exit device assembly. Single source availability of individual parts that could be required for service. Doors are installed with all necessary hardware. Contractors having capabilities to provide this product are invited to submit complete documentation discussing such capabilities to the SSA within 45-calendar days from this announcement. The Government does not intend to pay for the information solicited or received. Phone calls are discouraged unless absolutely necessary. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of far 6.302. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
