FOR THE TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE FOR NEEDY FAMILIES PROGRAM. The
Administration for Children and Families is soliciting proposals for a
research project to examine State-level promising practices to
increase numbers of clients prepare for, find, and maintain themselves
in jobs. In the context of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
(TANF) program, established by the Personal Responsibility and Work
Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA) of 1996, this requires working
with clients who are difficult to place, due to a lack of basic
skills, or who face significant challenges in getting and keeping jobs,
such as inadeqaute transportation, domestic violence, lack of
affordable child care, and drug and alchohol abuse. The period of
performance of this contract will be five (5) months. Interested
parties should request RFP No. 105-98-8400. This solicitation will be
issued on or about 3/30/98, with a proposal due date of 4/30/98. All
requests for this solicitation shall be in writing. Telephone requests
