The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIRSYSCOM) intends to negotiate with Rolls-Royce Military Aero Engines, LTD, Bristol, England, under Procurement Initiation Document (PID) N00019-97-P1-PF212 for the procurement of approximately eighty production and spare engines, or such quantities deemed by Congress and the Government of Spain, of the F402-RR-408A model for the US Marine Corps (AV-8B and TAV-8B) and the Government of Spain. NAVAIRSYSCOM intends to issue a firm fixed price contract for FY99 and include options for FY00 and 01. The contract will also include associated support including data, technical manuals, integrated logistics support, repair of repairables, spare and repair parts, training and training equipment, maintenance support, and a Spanish Workshare program. Rolls Royce is the sole manufacturer of the F402-RR-408A engine and the only firm with the requisite knowledge and expertise to perform the effort. See Note 22. (0057)
