Whiteman, Purchasing Agent, whiteman@code59.npt.nuwc.navy.mil. Description: The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport has a requirement for purchase of two (2) electro-mechanical tow cables. The specification, which will be included with the RFQ, establishes the performance, design, test, manufacture and acceptance requirements for a high-strength, minimum diameter, electromechanical cables which will be used to deploy, tow, and retrieve a hydrophone array through seawater. This tow cable shall undergo numerous payout and retrieval cycles from a winch and/or a dual capstan handling system. The cable must be highly reliable and provide three years of projected services. Documents that form part of the specifications include MIL-C-17, "general specification for cables, radio frequency, flexible and rigid", MIL-C-915, "general specification for cable and cord electrical, for shipboard use", and also MIL-STD-202F, "test methods for electronic and electrical test method 202 component parts" delivery shall be to NUWC, Newport, RI, F.O.B. destination by 01 JUN 98. *See note #1 the proposed contract is 100% set aside for small business concerns. The government intends to award a single contract on a firm fixed price basis. A written request for quote including the statement of work and accompanying drawings will be released on or about 11 March 1998 to all offerors that submit a written request.
