NIST Contracts Office, Contract@nist.gov. The National Institute of
Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for a tunable
ultrafast laser system with the following overall characteristics: (1)
ability to generate femtosecond (fs) light pulses in the wavelength
range from 200 nm to 14000 nm; (2) Produces pulses of the shortest
possible duration (e.g., less than 120 fs) and the broadest spectrum
consistent with the transform limit; (3) Pulses have high energy (e.g.
many microjoules) and high repetition rate (e.g., at least 1000
Hertz); (4) Easy to use and stable; (5) Small, requiring minimal
electrical and other services; (6) Prompt delivery, comprehensive
warranty and prompt field service at NIST. The system shall contain a
short pulse oscillator, a Titanium-sapphire regenerative amplifier, a
visible optical parametric amplifier (OPA) and an infrared OPA with
subsequent frequency mixing in nonlinear crystals. F.O. B. Destination,
Gaithersburg, Maryland. Required Delivery Time, 6 months. The system
must be covered by warranty for a period of 1 year following acceptance
of the system by NIST (except for nonlinear crystals that should have
a 90 day warranty). Service shall be available within 5 working days
after notification of a problem. Optional items shall include a long
wavelength infrared generator and a short wavelength generator. See
