Specialist/Carol C. Rivard (309) 782-3272, Contracting Officer/Barry R.
Hartleben, (309) 782-7116 MARKET SURVEY: Availability of existing
commercial or nondevelopmental item for mortar plotting boards for the
M16 and M19 as follows. The M16 mortar plotting board is a portable
instrument, including a protective case with a shoulder strap, used
with the 81mm, 120mm and 4.2 inch mortars to compute the deflection
range and azimuth of the weapon. The mortar plotting board uses known
range and azimuth data from the weapon to an observation post, in
combination with reported data received from the observation post,
concerning location of the target with respect to the observation post.
The mortar plotting board must meet the following characteristics. It
is to consist of a base grid, azimuth disk, and a range scale arm with
the top surface of the disk and the base grid allowing clear pencil
marks and clean erasures with a 2H lead pencil. Marking surface of disk
must be constructed to provide for repetitive marking and erasing,
without appreciably impairing transparency or leaving impression marks.
The disk and range scale arm is to rotate 360 degrees. The base grid
and the range scale arm are to be graduated in meters to determine
range. The disk is to be graduated in mils to establish azimuth. All
components are to operate freely when exposed to temperatures between
-40 degrees Fahrenheit and plus 125 degrees Fahrenheit. The maximum
length or width is not to exceed 22 inches. The maximum thickness is
not to exceed 7/8 inch. Maximum total weight is 4.0 pounds. The
differences for the M19 plotting board follow: This mortar plotting
board is used with the 60mm mortar. The maximum length or width is not
to exceed 14 inches. The maximum thickness is not to exceed one inch.
The maximum total weight is 3.5 pounds. Any offeror having an item
which meets the above characteristics for either plotting board in
whole or in part should submit the following information to the points
of contact listed in this advertisement. Provide the item description
and performance specification which addresses all the required
capabilities, and any other salient characteristics; estimated unit
cost, production rates, delivery schedules, quantity produced to date,
customers, and supporting commercial literature. Provide data to
identify any special training requirements for maintenance and
operation. Describe what training materials or commercial manuals are
provided to users. Describe your warranty program. Any contractors
interested in participating in this market research must provide
response to this data call by NO LATER THAN 20 March 1998. Technical
questions should be directed to Mr. Mark Resetich, AMSTA-AR-ESW-F,
(309) 782-8169. All other questions are to be directed to Carol Rivard,
