The U.S. Department of Commerce, Minority Business Development Agency has a requirement for hotel accommodations to host its annual MED Week Conference. The facilities must accommodate at a minimum up to 400 sleeping rooms a night, facilities to include a general meeting room to hold up to 750 people theater style with head table and dais, a separate room to accommodate a luncheon/dinner for 1,000 people in rounds of 10 with a head table and dais, separate exhibition space to accommodate a minimum of 250 formal 8"x10" booths, 4 separate rooms to be used as office space, 2 separate meeting rooms to accommodate 50-65 people theater style with a head table, 8 separate rooms to accommodate 100-150 people theater style with a head table, 1 separate meeting room to hold 30-40 people, and 2 separate rooms to accommodate a minimum of 25 people. Banquet services will include 2 receptions for approximately 500 people, 1 awards gala dinner for approximately 850 people, 3 luncheons for approximately 1,000 people and 2 breakfasts for approximately 600 people. The hotel accommodations must be located within boundaries of Washington, DC and not more than a ten minute walking distance to a Metro subway station. The 1998 MED Week Conference dates are September 19-25, 1998. The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration intends to negotiate with Sheraton Washington Hotel, 2660 Woodly Road NW, Washington, DC 20008, on a sole source basis for the annual MED Week Conference being held in Washington, DC.
