The National Park Service is soliciting for an ethnographic overview
and assessment of Hopewell Culture National Historical Park, Ross
County, Ohio. The purpose of the study is to identify Native American
groups with specific historical or contemporary ties to lands and
natural and cultural resources of Hopewell Cultural NHP; to survey
contemporary tribal offiicals, cultural leaders, and traditional
religious leaders within those groups; to summrize evidence related to
the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act of 1990
(NAGPRA); and to identify and recommend future ethnographic studies
designed to address gaps in the existing state of ethnographic
knowledge regarding Native American use and occupancy of park resources
and lands. Solicitation packages will be available on or about March
16, 1998, with quotations due on or about April 8, 1998. See Note 1.
