751-4923 The Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) intends to acquire, by
Invitation for Bid (IFB), data entry and magnetic key/disk/tape
conversion services for a period beginning September 1, 1998 and not to
exceed three years. The contractor would receive source documents from
the RRB on a job-by-job basis for conversion of selected data to
magnetic tape. The contractor would be required to pick up the source
documents from the RRB headquarters (HQ) in Chicago, Illinois. The
contractor would also be required to produce machine readable records
in accordance with keying instructions furnished by the RRB, and
deliver the source documents and resulting magnetic records back to the
RRB HQ facility within twenty-four (24) hours of each source document
pickup. An accuracy rate of 100% is required as determined by RRB's
surveillance plan. The place of performance for data conversion
services is immaterial. The contracting officer has requested U.S.
Department of Labor wage determinations for the following possible
placesof performance -- Chicago, IL and Janesville, WI. The contracting
officer shall request wage determinations for additional possible
places of performance upon receipt of written requests from prospective
bidders. Such requests must be received by the contracting officer at
the RRB's HQ facility in Chicago, Illinois before 10:00 a.m. local time
on March 31, 1998 to be considered timely. However, late receipt of a
prospective bidder's request for a wage determination for additional
places of performance does not preclude the bidder from submitting a
bid for the proposed acquisition of data entry and conversion services.
The RRB plans to issue the solicitation on or about May 13, 1998. Firms
desiring to obtain a copy of the solicitation must submit their request
in writing on company letterhead, including the RRB's solicitation
number in the written request. Such a request must be sent to the above
address. Any questions regarding the above solicitation must be
submitted in writing to the above address as well. No telephonic
inquiries or requests for documents shall be accepted. This
