Work includes, but is not limited to: 1) Demolition of cable tray, electrical systems, mechanical systems and carpet; 2) Removal of asbestos pipe insulation fittings, floor tile and mastic, carpet mastic, fire doors, and other asbestos containing/contaminated materials; 3) Installation of new raised floor systems, walls, doors, frames, finishes, ceiling systems, plumbing and mechanical air handling system, electrical distribution systems, lighting fixtures, receptacles, switches, and grounding applications; and 4) Other miscellaneous work as required by the drawings and specifications. Performance time is 300 calendar days with an anticipated start of approximately July 1998. The estimated dollar range is between $1M and $3M. The FAA is seeking contractors with experience in rehabilitation of occupied space, major mechanical and electrical demolition and installation, and asbestos removal. Contractors interested should request a Screening Information Request (SIR). Requests will be honored via fax or letter only. No telephone requests will be taken. Contractors will be evaluated and only those determined qualified will be sent the Request for Offer. The SIR is anticipated to be available March-April 1998. The DOT OSDBU has programs to assist minority, woman-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short term working capital and bonding assistance for DOT related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to surety against losses. Loans are also available under the DOT Short Term Lending program at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
