for large size buoy chain and bridles, which will be used for mooring
navigational buoys in the coastal and inland waters of the United
States. The open-link chain is made from low-carbon steel and
electrically welded. It is to be manufactured in accordance with USCG
specification number 377H dated February 1998. The specification will
be provided with the solicitation package. The sizes required are: 1";
1-1/8"; 1-1/4"; 1-1/2"; 1-3/4"; and 1-7/8" diameter, all furnished in
90' lengths. The bridle sizes required are 7/8"X10'; 1"x12';
1-1/4"x15'; 1-1/2"x18'; 1-1/2"x20'; and 1-1/2"x26'. Delivery will be
FOB destination to various USCG locations. The USCG anticipates
awarding a requirements-type contract for a base year and two one-year
option years. The SIC Code is 3499 and the size standard is 500

The U.S. Coast Guard intends on issuing an Invitation for Bid (IFB)
solicitation on or about April 30, 1998. Requests for solictation
package must be in writing. Interested offerors must reference
Solicitation No. DTCG23-98-B-TCB011. All responses must be sumbitted
within 30 calendar days from the date of this notice. Telephone

Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation
(DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU)
has a program to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged
enterprises to acquire short term working capital assistance for
transportation-related contracts. Loans are available under the DOT
Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide
accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
