Space Administration (NASA), Office of Space Science is releasing a
NASA Research Announcement (NRA-98-OSS-04) entitled Comparative
Planetary Research: Origin and Evolution of Planetary Atmospheres. This
NRA solicits proposals for basic research relating to comparative study
of the origin and evolution of planetary atmospheres, with initial
emphasis on Mars. This is a joint solicitation with the National
Science Foundation (NSF), which will issue a corresponding Dear
Colleague Letter and which will participate in a joint peer review of
proposals submitted in response to these announcements. Participation
is open to all categories of organizations, foreign and domestic
including educational institutions, profit and nonprofit organizations,
NASA centers, and other Government agencies. Upon the release date,
specific guidance for proposal preparation will be available
electronically from the World Wide Web by selecting "Research
