The US Army TACOM-ARDEC intends to issue a solicitation for the design, engineering development, fabrication and test of a Breech Mounted Laser Ignition System (BMLIS) for the 155mm Crusader Cannon. This effort will be issued under the Small Business Innovative Research program as a Phase III effort to Kigre, Inc., 100 Marshland Road, Hilton Head, SC 29926. This will be a three phase effort; total period of performance is anticipated at eighteen months. Phases 2 and 3 will be funded depending upon the test results from the previous phase(s). The BMLIS consists of a Breech Mounted Laser (BML) head, Laser Pulse Generator (LPG) and electrical cabling and shall be designed, developed and fabricated to meet the performance criteria specified by the Crusader Cannon Subsystem Prime Item Develpment Specification, to provided. The SOW calls for the design, development and fabrication of three laser igniter systems and five complete pump chambers for each phase. Testing includes energy, divergence, thermal and rate testing, as well as finite elements analysis. The contractor will be required to have a Quality Management system and a Reliability and Maintainability Process Control system. It is the Government's intent to award a Cost Plus Fixed Fee contract as a result of this solicitation. A copy of the solicitation will be available on the Internet at http://procnet. pica.army.mil. Certain drawings and other attachments may have restricted distribution and will be identified in the solicitation as provided separately. Interested parties will be required to submit an approved DD2345 in order to receive this information. Proposals are required to be submitted electronically via disk or other electronic media. Contractors will be required to be registered in the DoD Central Contractor Registry and paid via Electronic Funds Transfer. NO HARDCOPY SOLICITATIONS WILL BE ISSUED.
