Morton, Contracting Officer, (703) 325-1200 In accordance with agreements dated 13 Dec 93, 30 Oct 95, and 13 Aug 96, between the Department of Defense (DoD) of the United States and the Ministry of Defense MoD) of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Defense Special Weapons Agency (DSWA) plans to award a sole source contract to the National Nuclear Center (NNC) of the Republic of Kazakhstan as the executing agency to close and permanently seal ten (10) unused nuclear test holes at the Balapan Test Field using environmentally sound methods. This is a follow-on contract and will include one 25-ton depth-of-burial experiment to augment research under DSWA01-97-C-0094.
