The FAA is seeking experienced paving contractors to perform work which consists of but is not limited to: 1)Removal of existing asphalt paving, subbase and subgrade; 2)Removal of existing catch basins and VCP drainage pipe; 3)Installation of new drainage system; 4)Replacement of existing sidewalks, roads and curbs removed or modified during the drainage system installation; 5)Proof rolling of entire area to be paved and installation of a compacted 6 inch thick crushed stone aggregate subbase; 6)Installation of a 3 inch thick asphalt pavement with prime coat, tack coat, wearing course and primer/sealer coat; 7)Painting of parking stall lines; and 8)Other miscellaneous work. The estimated dollar range is between $300,000 to $500,000. Performance time is 60 calendar days. Anticipated start date is July 1998. Contractors will be evaluated and only those determined qualified will be sent the Request for Offer. The SIR is anticipated to be available March-April 1998. The DOT OSDBU has programs to assist minority, woman-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short term working capital and bonding assistance for DOT related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to surety against losses. Loans are also available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
