NAWCAD Patuxent River, St. Inigoes, MD is seeking sources capable of providing non-developmental item (NDI) wireless communications technology allowing communications between an operators headset and a fixed point intercommunications system or radio transceiver. The desired technology should employ direct sequence spread spectrum techniques or other low probability of intercept/low probabilty of detection (LPI/LPD) characteristic, i.e. using only enough power to reliably transmit over a radius of sixty feet. Data to be transmitted includes voice, radio press to talk (PTT), integrated communication system press to talk (ICS PTT), and will provide VOX operation at user discretion . Each transceiver pair will be uniquely coded so as not to interfere with any other station or transceiver within range. Units must be watertight to three feet depth for ten minutes, saltwater resistant, and reasonably shock resistant. The transceiver should be approximately 3" X 2.5" X 1" with a battery life of approximately 24 hours. Additional features include wearer adjustable volume control, low battery alert, and automatic shut off after a predetermined period. Optional encryption capability that does not require keymat is also desired.
