Grahovac, pg2@inel.gov. A -- LARGE SCALE WATER STERILIZATION SYSTEM .
Contact Mr. Paul Grahovac. Potential technology development and
licensing opportunity with Lockheed Martin Idaho Technologies Company
(LMITCO), the prime operating contractor for the Department of Energy
at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL).
LMITCO has developed a new concept for large scale sterilization of
water. This process is applicable to surface water for municipal
drinking water or possibly water discharged from large food processing
facilities. This concept consists of a new technology that implements
a low maintenance, non-electrical, multi-megawatt, acoustic power
source that is designed to treat up to 2 million gallons per hour of
pathogen-contaminated water. Also, this system when working at an
appropriate level of thermodynamic efficiency is not expected to be
significantly more expensive than the use of chlorine. Successful
implementation of this technology would address issues surrounding the
use of chlorine, generation of chlorine byproducts, and micro-organism
resistance to chlorine treatment. This technology has significant
economic advantages for industrialized urban areas that rely on surface
water supplies subject to contamination with pathogens. LMITCO is
seeking a written indication of interest from industry partners who
would consider funding collaborative technology development and/or
entering into a license agreement for the purpose of developing and
commercializing this technology. License terms will include an up-front
licensing fee and a running royalty based on a percentage of sales.
This is not an opportunity to provide goods or services to LMITCO or
the Department of Energy. This Request for Interest (RFI) will close to
response 30 days after publication. Interested parties should send a
description of their company and their ability to commercialize this
technology to: Paul Grahovac, Account Executive Technology Transfer
Office, LMITCO, P. O. Box 1625, Idaho Falls, ID 83415-3805. E-mail is
