The Library of Congress intends to issue a delivery order against an existing Basic Ordering Agreement to American Business Information, Inc. for a subscription for the uses of their databases by Air Force, HQ AFSVA/SVPAL, San Antonio, Texas. ABI provides access to over 11 million U.S. and Canadian Business records which include company name, address, phone number, SIC codes, name of owner, number of employees, and annual sales volume. In addition to the business component is a database of 105 million US households and 11 million Canadian households. Access is gained by the use of a PC and modem and. There are no minimums, no waiting, and users are to have complete control over the information. Users can perform counts for statistical analysis of existing or potential markets or locate additional vendors or suppliers. ABI's fixed media CD-ROM has a record key system that allows users to analyze any given marketplace by SIC code, number of employees,sales volume, geographic location, franchise specialty, small business owners, etc. The storage capacity of the CD-ROM allows access to the database of over 10 million unique business establishments. Users can perform market research and analysis, find out more about a particular business, or produce in-depth profiles of individual businesses. For mainframe applications, ABI offers a magnetic tape version of their database. Services will be continued through September 30, 1998.
