synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with
the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional
information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the
only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written
solicitation will not be issued. Solicitation Number N00164-98-R-0056
is issued as a Request for Proposal. Solicitation documents and
incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal
Acquisition Circular 97-03 and Defense Acquisition Circular 91-12. The
Standard Industrial Code is 3489. The Small Business size standard is
500 employees. This action is being processed as a Sole Source
acquisition to Beretta, Inc located in Accokeek, MD. The government is
requesting offers for: CLIN 0001 -- 1,896 each Brigadier Slide
Assemblies, Beretta Part number UD88616 and CLIN 0002- 1896 each
Brigadier Slide Stop, Beretta Part Number UD53983 Salient
Characteristics: The Brigadier slide and slide stop units must be
interchangeable with existing slide assemblies currently installed on
M9 9mm pistols in the Navy inventory which were produced from Beretta
USA. The Brigadier slide stop and slide assembly must be capable of
installation on M9 pistols in the Navy inventory without detriment to
safety, fit and function. Internal components of the Brigadier slide
assembly (ie. firing pin and spring, extractor and spring safety
assembly etc.) shall be of the same design and configuration and
interchangeable with those same components currently available as
repair parts in the stock system. The slide assembly shall have
replaceable front and rear sights. The slide stop and the interior
components of the slide shall have finish 5.3.1.1 or 5.3.2.1 of
MIL-STD-171 with MIL-C-16173, GR 3 supplementary oil treatment. The
slide sub-assembly shall have finish 5.3.1.3 or 5.3.2.3 plus either
finish 30.7 of MIL-STD-171 or finish per MIL-P-48699 matte surface,
thickness 0.005 to 0.015 color 37038 but no lighter than 36076 per
FED-STD-595. This is anticipated to be a Firm Fixed Price contract. The
shipping terms will be F.O.B. Destination, Naval Surface Warfare
Center, Crane IN with the inspection/acceptance at Destination.
Delivery will be required within 150 days from contract award. The

Restrictions on Certain Foreign Purchases. The contractor shall extend
to the Government the full coverage of any standard commercial
warranty normally offered in a similar commercial sale, provided such
warranty is available at no additional cost to the Government. Offerors
responding to this announcement must provide the information contained
in 52.212-1, Instruction to Offerors-Commercial Items and must include
a completed copy of provision FAR 52.212-3, Offeror Representations and
Certifications-Commercial Items and DFAR 252.212-7000 Offeror
Representations and Certifications -- Commercial Items. The offeror
should also provide its Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) code,
Contractor Establishment code (DUNS Number) and Tax Identification
Number. If a change occurs in this requirement, only those offerors
that respond to this announcement within the required time frame will
be provided any changes/amendments and considered for future
discussions and/or award. The offeror's written quote and the above
required information must be received at this office on or before March
25, 1998 at 3:00PM Eastern Std Time. Note 22 is applicable. The
