The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to acquire the services of a small-business set-aside contractor, under Standard Identification Code 8748, in support of the Next Generation Program (NGP) for fire suppression technology. The contractor shall perform tasks which support experimental programs at the Naval Research Laboratory, Army Research Laboratory and NIST in terms of: 1) Database development and the modeling of chemical systems of importance in the search for more effective substitutes for halon 1301; 2) materials to be considered include iron and tin compounds, organo-phosphorus compounds, metallic halides and phosphonates; and 3) existing chemical kinetic database shall be extended to cover propane combustion. The contractor shall perform tasks consisting of: a. Data Collection; b. Kinetic database development; and c. Kinetic modeling. The period of performance for the Base Period is from the date of award through September 30, 1998, with the option of extending fortwo additional 12-month periods.
