The U.S. Coast Guard Maintenance and Logistics Command, Pacific (MLCP) proposes to contract for the Dockside Repairs of the USCGC POLAR STAR (WAGB-10). The estimated period of performance is 25 May 1998-19 June 1998. All work will be accomplished onboard the vessel which will be located at the USCG Facility at Pier # 36, Seattle, WA. The soliciation will be issued under the Small Business Demonstartion Program. The anticipated issuance date of the IFB is about 1 April 98. The estimated bid opening date is 1 May 1998. Some of the major work is: 1) Renewal of 3 preheaters and 1 cooling coil unit (preheaters and cooling coil units to be GFE), 2) Re-surface Flying Bridge, 02 Weather Deck and port and stbd 02 Weather Decks, 3) Preserve Pilot house Front and 02 Level superstructure. All responsive sources will be considered. A pre-bid conference is not planned. For Women-owned and Disadvantage Business Enterprices, The Department of Transportation (DOT) Minority, Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utiization has a Program to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantage enterprises to acquire short-term working capital assistance for transporation related contracts. Loans are available under the DOT Short-Term Lending Program (STLP) at the prime interest rates to provide accounts receiveable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
