the intent of this office to issue a contract for enhancement in
engineering design for the Lexfoam backpack delivery system used by
Mine Action Centers in Bosnia and Cambodia to clear land mines. A
requirement for a disposable low-cost Hand-held Lexfoam Dispenser has
been identified. The hand-held dispenser is being specifically
developed to meet the deminers' need for a highly effective, yet
user-friendly demolition system. The system shall consist of two
components, a one-pound aerosol dispenser filled with Lexfoam stock
solution and a small capsule containing a predetermined amount of
liquid propane propellant. Both components are classified as a
flammable liquids for transportation and storage purposes. Mixing both
components will produce explosive foam. The proposed contact will also
deliver six-hundred (600) handheld explosive foam kits to the US Army
for test and evaluation and also shall provide technical field support
in Cambodia and Laos for their improved demining delivery system.
Thepurchase is being made under the auspices of Other than Full and
Open Competition in as much as Golden West Products International is
the developer and sole marketer of the Lexfoam. All responsible sources
may submit a bid, proposal or quotation which will be considered. NO
