The University of California (University), Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), seeks sources for large Nd:GGG laser-quality 10" diameter x 20" long crystals with slab sizes of about 20 cm x 40 cm x 1 cm for applications for a potential military customer. The commercial vendor must have the technical and facility capability to produce these crystals in significant quantities and can demonstrate their experience in the growth of 4 inch diameter optical quality Nd:GGG crystals. It is anticipated that the crystals would be grown by the preferred Czochralski method. Firms are invited to respond with an expression of interest in participating in the development and production of these crystals. The expression should provide a brief description (four to ten written pages) that shows your demonstrated capability of growth of the 4 inch crystal and your understanding of the problems associated with the growth of this size of Nd:GGG crystal or other closely related crystals. Facsimile and telephone responses will not be accepted. This notice is to assist the University in determining the potential firms and there is no solicitation currently available.
