34 -- STRUCTURAL SHAPE BURNING SYSTEM SOL n/a DUE 032798 POC Ms.> Katie Palmer (360)476-2106 The following information is provided in an effort to find potential sources for a CNC Structural Shape Burning System for delivery and installation to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. The requirement is for a turn-key, non-developmental system, and includes site preparation; assembly, installation and testing of equipment; and training of operator and maintenance personnel. The intent is to have a single contractor accomplish all work. The system will be used to prepare (cut, cope, snipe, split, trim, bevel) structural shapes (angles, channels, I-beams, structural tube) of the following dimensions: for beams and channels -- Depth 3 to 48 inches, thickness 0.250 to 1.50 inches, and flange width up to 18.5 inches; and for angles and structural tubes -- Leg or side 3 to 12 inches and thickness 0.250 to 1.50 inches. The proposed system must fit within a 20 by 75 foot area and cannot exceed 11 feet in height. It must contain Web (horizontal) and flange (vertical) cutting torch assemblies compatible with Victor torch tips, beveling capability from 5 to 60 degrees, must maintain a squareness of 1/16-inch over a full width beam, and operate with MAPP gas. Additional features include two powered material handling roller feed drives, one minimum 40 foot powered infeed conveyor (measured from end of conveyor to the first torch position), one minimum 20 foot powered outfeed conveyor, an automatic beam clamping and measuring system that allows cutting anywhere along the length of the beam (stitching, beam splitting, rat holes), a scrap removal system from beneath the machine, and a microprocessor based CNC electronic control system; and one tooling package of various size dies. Preliminary Installation Planning (PIP) Drawings, manuals, spare parts list, PCB certs, OSHA certs and lockout/tagout procedures will be required. Any interested offeror should provide information on type and availability of required equipment, including ability to provide the required components, to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Code 248; 1400 Farragut Avenue; Bremerton, WA 98314-5000; Attn: Larry Ellis. Information can be faxed to (360) 476-5571 or e-mailed to ellisl@psns.navy.mil. Response is due by 27 March 1998. (0069)
